A panel of senior faculty members at Stanford University made a last-ditch attempt to scale down the size of the planned Ronald Reagan library, despite being warned that their advice will not be heeded. The university’s Academic Senate voted to ask Stanford trustees to postpone a final decision on the library plans at their May 12 meeting. But Warren Christopher, trustee board chairman, said: “I think there is little likelihood the board will want to reconsider.” He said the trustees already had cut back the original library proposal, which has brought protests about the design and location.
