A drunk motorist killed in a freeway crash did not heed a citation he received the day before for not wearing his seat belt, authorities said. “What’s ironic about this case is that the night before the driver received a citation for not wearing a seat belt,” California Highway Patrol Officer Ben Ruth said. The victim, Mark Jackson, 20, of Saugus and a passenger were on the Antelope Valley Freeway near Newhall when Jackson’s small truck hit the center divider, Ruth said. The intoxicated man was partially ejected from the pickup when it bounced off the rail and was killed when the truck hit the concrete siding of an overpass. The passenger, Glen Sanchez, 19, of Canyon Country was also thrown from the truck but received only minor injuries. “Had (Jackson) been wearing a seat belt,” Ruth said, “he would have had very minor injuries.”
