Eddie Milner in Drug Program
San Francisco Giants outfielder Eddie Milner, 31, has voluntarily entered a medical counseling program for treatment of a drug use problem, team officials announced today.
Baseball commissioner Peter Ueberroth has advised the team that Milner will be given this one opportunity to receive medical assistance and avoid disciplinary action, the team said. Milner was acquired from the Cincinnati Reds on Jan. 8 and has appeared in eight games this year. He has been hitting .222 with one RBI.
