The Region : Missing Handicapped Man Is Found

A deaf and partially blind man who wandered away from his Watts-area home last week was found at Memorial Hospital Medical Center of Long Beach after a nurse there read of the Los Angeles Police Department’s efforts to locate the man and called authorities. Police Detective Glen Day said the man, Anthony Quinn Jones, 21, had been hit by a car and was admitted to the hospital “several days ago” with a broken leg. Jones left home last Thursday saying he was going to take a bus ride. Members of his family called police soon afterward and began a search, while a Police Department check of several local hospitals, jails and other institutions provided no clues, Day said. However, a staff member at the Long Beach hospital, recognized Jones from a description carried in the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday and contacted detectives.
