A May 15-17 workshop on buying a bed-and-breakfast inn will be taught by Pat Hardy and Jo Ann Bell, authors of “So You Want to Be an Innkeeper” and operators of the Glenborough Inn in Santa Barbara. The new Los Angeles International Hostel will hold an open house Saturday from 11:30 a.m. at 3601 S. Gaffey St., San Pedro. Marvin Saltzman, co-author of “Eurail Guide,” will speak on rail travel in Europe at 1 p.m. Scott Wayne, author of the forthcoming “Egypt and the Sudan,” will speak on travel in Europe, the Middle East and Africa at 2:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and is free. French Polynesia’s inter-island carrier, Air Polynesie, has changed its name to Air Tahiti and introduced a new fleet of planes. Air Tahiti’s local office is at 12233 W. Olympic Blvd., Suite 110, Los Angeles 90064, phone (213) 207-1919.

Air France will add a second weekly nonstop flight between Los Angeles and Tahiti starting June 1, and two more flights between San Francisco and Paris beginning June 10.

Trans World Airlines has begun daily service from Orange County’s John Wayne Airport to St. Louis, supplementing the service provided by its regional commuter partner, Trans World Express. Starting in May, TWA will offer two daily round-trip flights to St. Louis and expanded Trans World Express service to Santa Catalina Island, Santa Barbara, Palmdale/Lancaster and Oxnard/Ventura.

UTA French Airlines will increase its nonstop flights from San Francisco to Paris to four a week beginning in June with the addition of Thursday and Saturday departures. The Thursday flight will be a permanent addition to the schedule. The Saturday flight will be offered from June 5 until late August.

Air Afrique has added business-class seating on its routes from the United States to West Africa. In addition, the airline has introduced sleeper seats in the first-class cabins of its DC-10s.
