A blocked sewage line in La Jolla Monday forced 450 gallons of raw sewage up through a manhole and then into the ocean, San Diego County health officials reported.
A 100-yard stretch of water on either side of the beach in the 5900 block of Camino de la Costa will be closed at least until Wednesday as a result of the spill, health information specialist Lyn Wallis said.
The sewage poured out of the manhole for more than an hour before the pipe could be repaired, Wallis said.
