A Los Angeles woman was charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon after she allegedly helped her two teen-age sons track down and attack a group of youths that they believed were members of a rival gang, police said. Scarlett Harvey, 37, was arrested a few hours after witnesses said she stopped her car in Compton and allowed her sons, 15 and 17 years old, to attack the youths with a baseball bat and a .38-caliber pistol. Two 16-year-old boys were released after hospital treatment for bullet wounds. Police said Harvey’s two sons, each charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, apparently had the impression that the people they shot were gang members although the victims denied this repeatedly.
