Robert Redford Honored for Help to Environment

Actor Robert Redford has received the 1987 Nathaniel A. Owings award for significant contribution to the environment. The award was given by the California Council of the American Institute of Architects.

Redford was honored for his involvement as founder and president of the Institute for Resource Management, a nonprofit educational organization that fosters a more balanced approach, use and conservation of America’s natural resources.

The Owings award is named after Nathaniel A. Owings, winner of the 1983 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal and 1968 recipient of the U. S. Department of Interior’s highest conservation award.
