The Cincinnati Reds put pitcher Mario Soto on the 21-day disabled list, effective today, as he continued to be plagued by arm problems.
Soto, 30, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder in August of 1986. The right-hander was on the disabled list three times last season before the operation.
Soto is 3-1 with an earned-run average of 5.12 in six starts this season.
