DOUBLE YOUR FUN

The prospect of Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin in the same movie is intriguing. So how about two of each?

That’s what Touchstone’s cooking up in “Big Business,” set to film in NYC in August. The script by Dori Pierson and Marc Rubel has them portraying two sets of identical twins who were switched at birth. Now questionably mature adults, the first set of twins are poor factory workers in Tennessee who arrive in the Big Apple as union representatives battling the corporate bosses--who happen to be the other twins.

The film, marking director Jim Abrahams’ (of Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker “Airplane!” acclaim) first solo effort, will be using split-screen effects to facilitate the ruse. A search has begun for body doubles (5-2 and 5-7, respectively) who, according to an ad in the Hollywood Reporter, “must be willing to wear full mask and wig and generally be able to imitate these stars.”
