Local News in Brief : Pacoima Youth Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver
A San Fernando High School student was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday as he was walking across a Pacoima intersection, police said.
Oscar Cervantes, 16, of Pacoima was crossing the street at Pala Avenue and Carl Street at 1:35 a.m. when a car traveling south on Pala knocked him into a parked car, said Los Angeles police Officer William Priestley.
The car sped off after hitting the youth, Priestly said. He said there were no witnesses.
Cervantes, a 10th-grader, was pronounced dead at the scene.
