Shasta County sheriff’s deputies arrested Linda Capitan, 28, as a suspect in the contract killing of her 57-year-old ex-husband, Vince Capitan, who was found shot to death Feb. 6 near his home in Jones Valley northeast of Redding. Bail for Capitan, who was arrested in Chico, was set at $500,000. Investigators said Capitan did not actually pull the trigger but hired others to do it for her. The couple had been involved in a bitter custody dispute over their two children, and Vince Capitan had a long history of criminal behavior, deputies said. At least two other suspects are still being sought.
