A $2-a-ticket raffle sponsored by Santa Marta Hospital in East Los Angeles--with comedian/actor Cheech Marin’s classic ’55 coral-and-ivory Chevy as the grand prize--raised $40,000 for an early breast cancer detection program. But a hospital spokeswoman added that the high visibility of the raffle stimulated two other grants: $25,000 from the California Community Foundation and $10,000 from the Adolph Coors Foundation. Mike Escamilla of La Habra won the car, featured in Marin’s “Born in East L.A.” video.
