“The CBS Evening News”--once the undisputed television news leader--finished second to the “NBC Nightly News” for the sixth consecutive week, A.C. Nielsen Co. ratings estimates showed Wednesday. NBC’s “Nightly News” averaged a 10.8 rating last week, while CBS’ evening newscast, absent anchorman Dan Rather, who was on assignment in Moscow, averaged a 10 rating. ABC’s “World News Tonight” had a 9.9. Each ratings point represents 874,000 homes. (This week’s Nielsen top 10 entertainment shows are mentioned below.)
