Supervisors OK Plan to Tow Abandoned Cars
Faced with rising resident complaints over abandoned automobiles cluttering roadways, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a $200,000 program designed to remove the eyesores from streets.
By a unanimous vote, the supervisors agreed to spend Community Development Block Grant funds to tow abandoned cars out of low- and moderate-income neighborhoods in the unincorporated areas of the county.
Based on an estimated cost of $100 per vehicle, the program approved Tuesday is expected to pay for the removal of nearly 2,000 abandoned autos over the next year, county officials said.
