Two of three men injured in the Popeyes Offshore Grand Prix powerboat race on a choppy Lake Ponchartrain Saturday were still hospitalized in New Orleans, one of them in intensive care.
Byron Hill of Fort Myers, Fla., who was admitted with shoulder, chest and possible internal injuries, was listed in stable condition in intensive care, a Humana Hospital spokeswoman said.
John D’Elia Jr. of Cos Cob, Conn., was in stable condition at New Orleans Charity Hospital with chest injuries and a possible fractured shoulder.
Brad Cox, also of Cos Cob, was treated and released.
The three racers were hurt in the Stock A class competition when their 24-foot boats flipped over.
