Woman Dies in 2d Freeway Leap
A woman who survived a jump from the same overpass seven years ago was killed early this morning when she leaped from the Western Avenue bridge over the Hollywood Freeway. Jean Kuppenbach, 40, of Hollywood was struck by several cars before a motorist stopped and moved her body off the road, police said.
Traffic was snarled for 3 1/2 hours while police investigated the incident, with all lanes finally reopened by 7:30 a.m. Hollywood Station Detective Butch Harris said Kuppenbach had been under psychiatric care since her 1980 leap off the overpass, which left her hospitalized for 14 months.
