Hermosa Adds Hour to Meter Parking Limit
The City Council has increased by one hour the time drivers can park at meters throughout the city.
The 4-1 action, increasing parking to three hours per space, came after merchants complained that the two-hour limit discouraged people from using the downtown shopping district. Councilwoman Etta Simpson voted against the change.
Installation of on-street meters that accept pennies, nickels and dimes as well as quarters to pay the 25-cent-per-hour rate, was also approved by the council last week. The meters now accept quarters only.
The new equipment, which should be installed in September, will cost about $7,000.
