Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner’s county car was missing Tuesday after being taken at gunpoint from his driver as Reiner dined at the trendy restaurant Spago on Sunset Boulevard Monday night.

Sheriff’s detectives reported that two men drove off with the radio-equipped, dark blue 1986 Buick Park Avenue after pointing a gun through an open window at Reiner’s driver, a district attorney’s investigator.

The suspects also took a gun from the investigator, who was not hurt in the robbery, authorities said.

The suspects, described as being in their late 20s, got out of a 1973 Mercedes-Benz moments before accosting the investigator. The driver of the Mercedes followed the stolen vehicle westbound on Sunset Boulevard, authorities said.

The car was parked in front of Spago, at 8795 Sunset Blvd., when the incident occurred.

Neither Reiner nor his press office would comment on the robbery, referring all inquiries to the Sheriff’s Department. A spokesman said Reiner was having a “personal dinner” at Spago at the time of the incident.
