Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert each won two matches Thursday in a $200,000 women’s grass court tournament at Eastbourne, England.

Evert defeated Wendy White, 6-3, 6-4, and Larissa Savchenko of the Soviet Union, 6-1, 6-3, and will play Helena Sukova of Czechoslovakia, who beat Elizabeth Minter of Australia, 7-5, 6-2, and Rosalyn Fairbank of South Africa, 6-7, 6-3, 8-6.
Top-seeded Henri Leconte of France moved into the quarterfinals at Bristol, England, beating Andrew Castle of Britain, 6-3, 7-5, before rain struck.
