Driver Arrested After 6 Hurt in Fullerton Crash

A 19-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a two-car collision in Fullerton early Sunday left him and five other persons injured, police said.

According to officers, Matthew Scrivens failed to stop at a red light about 2 a.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Luis Garcia, 40, of Placentia near State College Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue.

Garcia, who suffered head and neck injuries, was taken to St. Jude Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Fullerton. A passenger in his car, identified as Margie Acuna, 46, of Placentia, suffered serious abdominal and head injuries, and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.

Police said that Scrivens was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving at St. Jude, where he was being treated for a head injury.

Three passengers in Scrivens’ car also were injured.
