Police Monday asked for help in identifying a man believed to be an early morning jogger who suffered a heart attack and was found lying unconscious on a sidewalk. He died about an hour later in a hospital.

The man was found in the 8900 block of Lake Angela Drive at 5:38 a.m., police said. Paramedics took him to Grossmont Hospital but he died at 6:30.

He was described by police as white, 55 to 60 years old, 5-foot-8 and about 170 pounds. He was slightly bald, with red and gray hair, and was wearing dark brown rimmed glasses, according to Officer Jerry Hillbrand.

The man was dressed in a light-blue pullover shirt with a gray stripe across the chest, white walking shorts with pockets, brown socks and two-toned blue-and-gray running shoes, Hillbrand said.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity should contact the coroner’s office, Hillbrand said.
