South Bay : 2 Groups Donate Money
The Peninsula chapter of the National Charity League has presented $7,000 in scholarships to four outstanding high schools seniors. The money comes from sales at the chapter’s Ticktocker Thrift Shop in San Pedro.
Receiving scholarships at a luncheon were Benjamin Hodor of Palos Verdes High School; Matthew Wiese, Rolling Hills High, and Meredith Simmons and Noel Mastandrea of Miraleste.
Soroptimist International of Palos Verdes/Redondo gave $7,000 to 13 community organizations--ranging from drug-abuse programs and youth groups to a hospital. Youth Citizenship Awards of $1,000 each also went to Jennifer Baszille of Palos Verdes High School and Mindy Davis and Kim Frick of Redondo Union High.
