Detectives from London’s Obscene Publications Squad are taking a close look at a display of contemporary jewelry by artist Simon Costin that opened Thursday. The reason? One of the items is a silver necklace made up of vials containing human sperm, and other pieces have been made from parts of dead animals. The necklace, valued at $4,025, contains “donations” from Costin and some of his male friends. A police spokesman said that a complaint from a member of the public over the sperm necklace would be investigated by the Obscene Publications Squad, although Costin said, “It’s ridiculous.”
