SANDER Chicanery

Share

This is regarding an item in the San Diego At Large section June 9.

San Diegans will once again be treated like so many brainless automatons as the anti-environmental SANDER project supporters deceitfully attempt to sway the outcome of this issue. It is environmentalists who oppose SANDER, yet the project’s supporters call themselves “San Diegans For a Clean Environment.”

The same tactics were tried by those opposing Proposition A (the Managed Growth Initiative) when, close to election day, Proposition A opponents plastered the city with a slogan intended to confuse the issue: No L.A.--No on A. In fact, a “no” vote would have aided the monied interests in San Diego who are in a rush to create another concrete jungle here.

But San Diegans proved themselves above being fooled by those working toward their next multimillion-dollar deals. Proposition A passed.

I’d be willing to bet that a majority of SANDER backers helped in giving us an administration whose solution to the depletion of the ozone layer is for us to wear sunscreen and hats.
