A National Collegiate Athletic Assn. proposal that would prohibit college athletes from working with collegiate coaches outside of the declared playing season was criticized by the U.S. Olympic Committee.
The proposal is part of legislation that the NCAA will consider Monday and Tuesday at a special convention in Dallas.
USOC President Robert Helmick said the proposal could adversely affect U.S. athletes in international competition by forcing them to choose between academic and athletic goals.
