In weekend ceremonies, 25 students received diplomas from the Reserve Police Academy of the Criminal Justice Training Center at Golden West College.
Acting Santa Ana Police Chief Eugene Hansen was key speaker. Armando Ruiz, a trustee of Coast Community College District, presented the certificates.
To complete the course, graduates took 340 hours of police training over a 21-week period. Their courses included instruction in use of state-approved chemical agents, first-aid, and arrest and firearms requirements.
Four of the graduates were sponsored by police departments. The Irvine and Orange departments each sponsored one of the reservist trainees. The Santa Ana Police Department sponsored two.
