About 190 guests at the Marriott Hotel on La Jolla Village Drive were evacuated late Saturday night when a fire broke out in a linen closet on the 12th floor, a San Diego Fire Department spokeswoman said.

Charlene Dwyer said guests on the hotel’s 12th, 14th and 15th floors were evacuated briefly at 11:20 p.m. when smoke began pouring from the hallway closet. Firefighters found smoldering linen that apparently had been ignited with the help of cleaning supplies, Dwyer said.

There were no injuries and the flames were quickly extinguished. Dwyer said the fire appeared to have been deliberately set and is being investigated by the Metro Arson Strike Team.
