Burbank’s Budget Reflects Slack in Redevelopment

Share

The Burbank City Council has approved a $239.8-million city budget for the coming fiscal year.

The budget appropriates 4.2% less money than last year’s, mainly because of scaled-down redevelopment activity, according to Sandi Henricks, the city’s budget administrator.

The budget includes $36 million for the redevelopment department, down from $59.1 million last year when officials anticipated large expenses for the Towncenter shopping mall. That project fell through, however, and much of the money was not spent.
