Clinton D. Heileman, 15, of Pacific Palisades, was killed early Friday when an unidentified man fired at him and a group of his companions in a parking lot in Pacific Palisades shortly after midnight, police said.

Two of Clinton’s companions, Daniel Dawson, 21, and Matthew Williams, 19, also were injured when the unidentified gunman, who was alone, shot at the group after a fight broke out, said Detective George Harris of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Los Angeles Division. Harris declined to give details of the incident, except to say that it did not appear to be gang-related.

He said police are seeking public assistance in finding the gunman, who was described as a short, unkempt white man in his 20s or 30s, with a mustache. The man was wearing a white T-shirt and paint-spattered jeans. He was driving a late-model gray Dodge van with square rear windows, Harris said.
