Fair Play, Please

Assemblyman Tom McClintock is out of order for the outrageous statements he made concerning Dick Silberman over the naming of the Clairemont Mesa Boulevard bridge and the California transportation system. (“Anti-Jerry Brown Bias Rubs Off on Silberman,” June 25).

Dick Silberman is a pathfinder and has served for many years in public advisory capacities, helping to create the high quality of life that has made our city and state so special. The people of California are fortunate to benefit from Dick’s vision and dedication and should be thankful.

Mass transit is not a disease, but a reality that will ultimately be the only intelligent way to move the masses of people that will populate our state in the years ahead.

Narrow-thinking legislators need to look toward a more realistic transportation future. In the meantime, a course in diplomacy and fair play should be added to the legislative agenda.
