Americans Flach, Seguso Come Back to Win Men’s Doubles

Americans Ken Flach and Robert Seguso celebrated the Fourth of July by coming from two sets down to win the Wimbledon men’s doubles championship, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 6-1, 6-4, Saturday over Spain’s Sergio Casal and Emilio Sanchez.

West Germany’s Claudia Kohde-Kilsch and Czechoslovakia’s Helena Sukova won the women’s doubles title, defeating Betsy Nagelsen and Australia’s Elizabeth Smylie, 7-5, 7-5.

In mixed doubles, the British team of Jeremy Bates and Jo Durie beat South Africa’s Danie Visser and Ros Fairbank, 7-6, 6-3, to reach today’s final. Opposing Bates and Durie will be the winners of today’s semifinal between Andy Kohlberg and Patty Fendick and Australia’s Darren Cahill and Nicole Provis.

Cahill and Provis defeated Casal and Raffaella Reggi of Italy, 6-4, 6-4, Saturday. Kohlberg and Fendick, winner of the NCAA women’s singles title the last two years, beat Flach and Kathy Jordan, the defending champions, on Friday, 6-3, 3-6, 8-6.
