Raiders’ Odis McKinney Arrested After Alleged Attack on Animal Control Officer

Raider defensive back Odis McKinney was arrested Sunday after he allegedly attacked an animal regulation officer who tried to cite him for walking his dog without a leash, police said.

McKinney, 30, was arrested and booked for battery on a peace officer, a misdemeanor, after the confrontation at Warner Ranch Park across the street from his home in Woodland Hills, said Officer Al Longobardi of the West Valley Division.

City animal regulation officer Michael Morrisey tried to cite McKinney for walking his red chow chow without a leash at about 5:20 p.m., Longobardi said.

McKinney argued with the officer and warned him to leave the dog alone. When Morrisey looped a rope around the dog’s neck to take it away, Longobardi said McKinney slammed the officer against a parked pickup truck and put a strangle hold on him.

McKinney then scooped up the dog, walked to his house on the 21000 block of Marylee Street, put the dog inside and sat outside to wait for police, Longobardi said.

Morrisey was not seriously injured and needed no medical attention, Longobardi said.

McKinney was released on $500 bail, according to police Sgt. Roger Ferguson.
