The trial of Eugene M. Giometti, the former president of the Glendale Bar Assn., who is charged with stealing more than $150,000 from clients, has been scheduled for Sept. 25.

Pasadena Superior Court Judge Coleman A. Swart set the trial date Monday. Giometti, 40, has pleaded innocent to 28 counts of grand theft, embezzlement and forgery.

His attorney, Richard J. Helphand, said Monday that discussions with prosecutors about a plea bargain had failed.

Giometti, who has resigned from the California Bar Assn., is charged with forging clients’ names on checks and embezzling from their trust funds. The maximum to which he could be sentenced if convicted is nine years, Deputy Dist. Atty. Walt Lewis said.
