Abrush fire burned 70 heavily forested acres for more than 13 hours Thursday before firefighters brought it under control in Angeles National Forest east of Sylmar, a U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman said.
The cause of the fire was being investigated, spokeswoman Karen Montoya said. More than 100 firefighters from the Forest Service and Los Angeles County Fire Department had it controlled by 6 a.m. Thursday, she said.
Four airplanes and three helicopters dropped water on the blaze, which originated in a shooting area near Pacoima Canyon Road, about a mile inside the forest boundary, Montoya said.
No firefighters were injured and the fire did not threaten any homes, she said.
