Compassion and Fear Over AIDS
The photo Markowski depicts ignorance and prejudice against AIDS victims.
The sheriff’s deputy does not need gloves to handle Markowski in a professional manner in the courthouse. The gloves reveal the ignorance and mistreatment of Markowski and thousands of other AIDS victims. The mask worn by Markowski is only necessary if he had a productive, infectious cough which The Times did not make mention of.
Photos such as these lead to miseducation and mistreatment of an already suffering community.
Please, fight AIDS, not its victims.
