Against Changes in the Basin
On July 10 Mr. Henry Baker of Woodland Hills wrote of his dismay at the destruction of the tranquility of Warner Park by the Woodland Hills Cultural Foundation. This is a small change compared to the extravagant plans planned for the Sepulveda Basin by a group called the San Fernando Valley Cultural Foundation.
On March 15 The Times wrote at length of the future of the Basin and included the dream of the foundation. They hope to raise $70 million to $100 million to finance an arts park with a 2,500-seat concert hall, an amphitheater, artists’ workshop and galleries. The Warner Park defilement will seem minor compared to the traffic, noise, dirt, pollution and possible crime this “improvement” in the basin will bring.
Do we ever get to vote on this change? Do we need it?
