A 3,000-acre brush fire in Utah was declared under control, while firefighters in southwest Oregon struggled to contain a 10,300-acre blaze. Officials in Oregon, where a fire near Roseburg killed two loggers last week, said they expected to complete by nighttime digging trails around the perimeter of the blaze. The Utah fire started Saturday when sparks from rifle shells ignited a small brush fire that spread within 10 minutes over a square mile at the state National Guard’s Camp Williams, officials said. After winds subsided, crews were able to ring the blaze with fire lines, officials said.
