Dash For Speed Dashes to Victory in Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs

Dash For Speed finished two lengths ahead of her nearest challenger to win Sunday’s $600,000 Rainbow Futurity at the Ruidoso Downs.

The filly’s win earned $212,730 for owners Thomas Bradbury and Bob Blakeman of Blakeman Farms in Fort Worth, Tex.

Dash For Speed took an early lead and never lost it. She finished the 24th running of the 400-yard race at the mountain track in 19.73 seconds.

Oh Bid Go finished second to earn $97,248 for owner Scott Roberts of Maysville, Okla. Elans Special, who was the top qualifier for the race, finished third and earned $49,840 for owner Dr. Lindsey Burbank of Leesburg, Fla.

Its Called Class finished fourth, followed by Chrises Smash, Sailontowin, Miss Daylight Run and Dance Hall Maskeo. Wicked Dash and Dash S Diamond were scratched from the event.

The Rainbow Futurity is the middle race of Ruidoso Downs’ triple crown for quarter horses. Dash For Speed finished second in the first leg of the triple crown, the Kansas Futurity.

The final leg is the $2.5 million All-American Futurity.
