Share

A woman chased the driver of a pickup truck for 20 miles over three Los Angeles freeways early today to get his license plate number after he fired shots that struck her car, police said. Neither the woman nor a passenger in her car was injured in the incident, the fourth reported in as many weeks involving gunmen shooting at motorists. (Story, Page 3.)

The Northridge woman, 45, told police that the truck tailgated her car on the transition road from the Hollywood Freeway to the Golden State Freeway shortly after midnight. When she changed lanes, the pickup pulled up alongside and the driver fired three shots, hitting her car once. The woman chased the pickup on the Golden State Freeway, across the Simi Valley-San Fernando Valley Freeway to the Foothill Freeway. She followed the gunman off the freeway at Maclay Street and called police with the license number. Police were looking for the pickup truck, which is registered in Pacoima.
