San Pedro : Air Force to Develop Park

Share

The Air Force will break ground Tuesday at White Point Park for a 170-home development at the north end of the park and at the nearby Martin J. Bogdanovich Recreation Center.

About 11 acres of White Point and the entire 22-acre Bogdanovich park were turned over to the Air Force in April as part of a deal worked out with the City of Los Angeles. The city will retain control of the remaining 100 acres at White Point.

Both parks were once owned by the federal government, which retains the right to reclaim them.

The first phase of the $13-million development, which will provide housing for Air Force officers assigned to the Space Division in El Segundo, is expected to be completed next summer.
