Top Off-Road Drivers and Teams Will Compete Tonight at Coliseum
Six of the most popular classes of off-road racing and virtually all of the top stadium drivers will be in action tonight at the Coliseum in the Mickey Thompson Off-Road Championship Gran Prix.
The first race is set for 7:30, preceded by a meet-the-drivers session from 6 to 7.
Factory teams from Nissan, Toyota, Mazda, Jeep, Suzuki, Dodge, Yamaha, Chevrolet, Honda and Kawasaki are all expected to race. Among the drivers are Roger Mears and Sherman Blach of Nissan, Steve Millen and Ivan (Iron Man) Stewart of Toyota, Glenn Harris and Jeff Huber of Mazda, Al Unser Jr. of Jeep, Danny Thompson of Chevrolet and Walker Evans of Dodge.
The six race classes are Grand National sports trucks, unlimited super 1600 single seaters, Ultra-Stocks, four-wheel ATVs, Odysseys and ultracross 250cc pro moto-X class.
Similar events at Anaheim Stadium in January and the Rose Bowl in May each drew more than 60,000 spectators.
