Little League Tourney Begins Today in Taiwan

Eight teams will compete here in the seven-day Far East Little League baseball tournament beginning today.

The Taiwan Amateur Baseball Assn. said teams come from Guam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Samoa and Taiwan.

The winner of the tournament will represent the Far East in the 41st World Series at Williamsport, Pa., Aug. 17-22.

Taiwan won the Little League World Series last year, and has won 11 world titles since it first entered the World Series in 1969. Japan has won the world title three times, and South Korea twice.
