South Gate police officers shot and killed a man who allegedly pointed a rifle at them when they arrived to investigate a domestic dispute, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman said. Baldemar Zuniga, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on San Anselmo Avenue, said Deputy Fidel Gonzales. Zuniga was shot in the chin, twice in the stomach and five times in the left leg. The shooting by Officers Ron Inman, 26, Marvin Barber, 23, and John Affeld, 37, was investigated by sheriff’s homicide detectives. Zuniga, his common-law wife and her two sons reportedly had argued in the house and Zuniga fired his rifle. When police arrived, Zuniga was struggling with the woman in the driveway and turned the weapon toward the officers, Gonzales said.
