Hasty Pasty, the even-money favorite owned by Aaron Spelling and his wife, Candy, scored an impressive victory in Friday’s featured $54,000 C.T.B.A. Stakes before a crowd of 15,273.

Hasty Pasty, providing jockey Laffit Pincay, Jr., with his second straight win of the afternoon, broke a bit slowly from her inside post position. The Flying Paster filly moved smoothly into contention on the backstretch, battled for the lead at the top of the stretch and then drew away to win by five lengths.

The winner’s time for six furlongs was 1:10 2/5.

Pirate’s Angel, a 35-1 outsider under Ray Sibille, was second, a length in front of third-place Bolchina, with Present Flyer fourth in the field of seven California-bred two-year-old fillies.

Hasty Pasty, trained by John Gosden earned $31,500. As the betting choice, the winner paid $4, $3 and $2.60. Pirate’s Angel returned $16 and $5.20, while Bolchina returned $3.60 to show.
