Gov. Deukmejian’s Cuts on Health and School Funds
I am outraged by the governor’s veto of the Bilingual Education Bill (July 25). We can now look forward to more school dropouts, lower test scores, alienated residents and less productive people.
Limited-English speaking children will inevitably fall behind in academic subjects while they learn English.
My Jewish heritage teaches me “You shall not oppress the stranger, for you know the feelings of the stranger.”
I’m distressed when minority children in California are not treated with compassion.
