An exhibition of “The Art of the Beatles” is due to go on a six-month tour of Japan in October. The show, including paintings, photographs, sculptures, graphics and other artwork associated with the Fab Four, drew record crowds when first staged at the Walker Art Gallery in the group’s home city of Liverpool in 1984. Thousands of Japanese fans make a pilgrimage to Liverpool every year. The fast-growing Official Beatles Fan Club of Japan, one of the tour sponsors, already boasts nearly 50,000 members. The exhibition will open in Tokyo in October and will move on to Osaka and five other major Japanese cities.
