Irina Kisselena scored a perfect 1,100 points in the riding competition and completed the 650-yard course in the fourth-fastest time to give the Soviet Union to a 110-point lead over the United States in the World Championship Womens’ Modern Pentathlon at Bensheim, West Germany.

On the first day of the five-day meet, the Soviet trio of Kisselena, Inna Chukhavzova, and Janna Gorlenko scored 3,260 of a possible 3,300 points over the course of 15 obstacles.

The United States, with Terry Lewis, Lee-Ann Skomski, and Kimberly Dunlop scored 3,150 points.
