Unruh Rites to Be Held in Santa Monica

Funeral services for state Treasurer Jesse M. Unruh are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica. Unruh, who was 64, died of prostate cancer Tuesday at his Marina del Rey home.
Bishop Leon Ralph, a former Democratic legislator who served in the Assembly when Unruh was Speaker, will preside. Private interment services will be held separately.
In lieu of flowers, Unruh’s family is requesting that donations be made to the Jesse M. Unruh Memorial Fund of the American Cancer Society.
