The National Basketball Assn. announced that the salary cap for the 1987-88 season will be $6,164,000 per team, an increase of 25% over last year’s cap of $4,945,000. The higher salary cap will result in an average player salary of $510,000, NBA officials said.
To ensure that NBA players receive at least 53% of the league’s revenues, teams will be required to spend a minimum of $5,434,000 on player salaries.
